Tides of Tranquility: A Day's Tale on Anna Maria Island
by Lance Roy
In the soft embrace of Anna Maria's sunlit isle,
After the feast of grilled fish 'neath Tide Tables' roof,
Late November's breath, a gentle chill in the mid-60s,
Yet the Florida sky, a canvas of azure warmth.
Over the Cortez bridge, a glance back reveals
Downtown Sarasota's distant silhouette,
A skyline punctuating the clear afternoon,
As if etched by an artist's careful hand.
On Bradenton's sandy embrace, near empty midweek shores,
Waves, not wild, whisper tales from the Gulf,
A walk through vacation homes' quiet charm,
To the Bradenton Beach Pier, where anchored boats shimmer.
Bridge Street beckons with the siren call of locals,
The Tender Inn's Tiki Bar, a haven for laughter,
Live chords weave tales of coastal melodies,
As the Gulf's horizon stretches its azure arms.
Westward, along Bridge Street's lively promenade,
Tourists gather souvenirs from the Bizarre,
Serenity Beach Spa and boutique allure,
While Back Alley's coffee shop tempts with its brew.
At Drift-in Tavern, stories blend with clinking glasses,
Island Time Bar and Grill pulses with music's heartbeat,
A journey north to Pine Avenue unfolds,
Northward, past the community's Playhouse Theater,
Pine Avenue unfurls its historic tapestry,
To AMI Beach and Dog Supply, a treasure trove was unveiled.
A pause at the Anna Maria General Store,
Water and snacks fuel the onward stride.
The City Pier whispers tales of marine life's wonders,
The Mote Marine Center, a beacon of knowledge,
As the Gulf breeze carries the sun towards its retreat,
The sky aglow, an artist's palette of hues.
Returning south, my secret beach sanctuary awaits,
A chair emerges from the trunk, toes touch the waves,
The fall evening's chill, a tender embrace,
As the sun dips, surrendering to the Gulf's tender grasp.
A whispered farewell to worries carried away
On the gentle lull of Anna Maria's magic,
A tale told in the fading light,
As the island dreams beneath the Gulf's tender night.
